YeshivahAI iPhone and iPad Privacy Policy

Effective:

Who we are

YeshivahAI is published by Torah AI, which operates YeshivahAI.org. Torah AI is responsible for the app's data practices. For privacy questions, support, or a request about your information, contact Arie@yeshivahai.org.

Scope

This policy covers the YeshivahAI publication-library app for iPhone and iPad and the PDF delivery service it uses at yeshivahai.org. The app presents published study materials. It does not include the separate website's question-submission or donation services, and it does not provide a live AI chatbot.

Information on your device

The app keeps downloaded PDFs, bookmarks, saved reading positions, the last-opened publication and edition, and interface and publication-language choices in its private local storage. Bookmarks and reading positions are stored separately for different editions. Library search runs on your device, and its search text is not sent to our service.

The app does not upload your bookmarks, saved pages, last-opened reading state, language-preference settings or library search text. It does not require an account and has no advertising, analytics SDK, crash-reporting SDK, payment form or question-submission form. Reading a publication does not send a prompt to an AI service.

PDF downloads and operational records

When you choose a publication that is not already available as a valid saved copy, the app requests its PDF from yeshivahai.org over HTTPS. The delivery infrastructure processes and records ordinary request information, including your IP address, country inferred from the IP address, requested publication URL, user-agent information, request time, response status and technical timing. The publication URL identifies the selected publication and its language; it does not contain your local search text or saved page.

We use operational records to deliver publications, investigate service failures, maintain the service's security and reliability, and handle related support or privacy requests. The app does not request GPS or precise-location permission. The country in delivery records is inferred from a network address.

We do not use these records for advertising or to create personalized reading profiles. Downloading a publication does not create an app account. Once a valid PDF is saved, the built-in reader can display it offline without making another download request. The app uses a temporary network-session configuration without a persistent cookie or network-cache store; this does not prevent the delivery service from retaining its operational records.

Hosting and other recipients

The PDF service is hosted through OpenAI's ChatGPT Sites service using Cloudflare infrastructure. OpenAI processes hosted data on our behalf under the applicable data-processing terms and uses service providers, including Cloudflare, to operate the service. Those terms require safeguards for hosted personal data and relevant obligations for subprocessors. Provider information is available at: https://openai.com/policies/chatgpt-sites-data-processing-addendum/ https://openai.com/policies/data-processing-addendum/ https://openai.com/policies/sub-processor-list/ https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

Authorized people supporting the service may access operational records to investigate problems and respond to privacy requests. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law. We do not sell personal information. Data may be processed in countries other than your own; the applicable hosting agreements govern provider safeguards and international transfers. We do not promise that hosting is confined to a particular country.

Links in publications

Publications may contain links to other websites. If you choose to open a link, the destination website and the browser or app handling it may process information about that visit under their own privacy practices. Your YeshivahAI bookmarks and saved reading positions are not added by this app to those links. This policy does not govern an independent third-party destination. The app's lack of a live chatbot does not mean that an external link cannot lead to an AI or other online service.

Local retention and deletion

Saved PDFs, including older editions and any retained recovery copies, remain in the app's local storage until removed. Removing a download removes its current and recognized saved older/recovery copies when deletion succeeds. It keeps that publication's bookmarks and saved pages. You can remove an individual bookmark with the reader's bookmark control.

To remove all of the app's local downloads, bookmarks, reading positions and preferences from this device, use Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage > YeshivahAI > Delete App. Offload App keeps documents and data. Removing the icon from the Home Screen also does not delete the app's data. The app does not have a separate full-reset control.

The app does not provide cloud synchronization. It marks newly saved PDFs and reading settings for exclusion from device backups. This is not a promise about every older backup, recovery copy or device-transfer mechanism. Deleting local data does not delete request records already held by the delivery service or support messages you have sent.

Service retention

Our policy is to retain personal operational information only for the purposes described here. Retention depends on whether information is still needed to investigate and resolve a delivery or security problem, fulfill a privacy or support request, or meet a legal obligation. Diagnostic extracts kept for a particular investigation are deleted or de-identified when those purposes no longer require them. We do not retain such extracts to build a continuing history of your reading.

Provider-managed request records follow the applicable hosting providers' operational, security and legal retention practices. A request record can remain after a download finishes. We do not promise that every provider-managed record expires after a particular number of days. Our hosting data-processing terms provide for assistance with applicable privacy requests and return or deletion of hosted data and copies at our instruction following termination, subject to legally required retention. Those contractual provisions are not an assurance of immediate deletion of an individual request record.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can read saved PDFs offline and choose not to make further downloads. To request access, correction or deletion of information held by the service, email Arie@yeshivahai.org. Requests may concern retained request logs, diagnostic extracts and support correspondence. Describe your request and, if useful, the approximate time and affected publication. Do not send passwords, payment information or unnecessary identity documents.

We may ask for limited information needed to understand or verify a request and will work with our hosting providers when records are under their control. We will explain applicable limitations or legal retention requirements and respond in accordance with applicable law. We do not promise an unverified deletion deadline or that every individual request record can be located and immediately removed.

If you contact us, we use your email address and the information you choose to include to handle the inquiry and related follow-up. We retain that correspondence while needed to resolve the inquiry and satisfy related legal obligations, then delete it or de-identify information retained for service improvement. Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights to object to or restrict processing, receive a copy of your information, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or complain to a relevant data-protection authority. Contact us through the same address to exercise these rights.

Audience

YeshivahAI is intended for readers aged 13 and older engaged in serious, advanced Torah study. It is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact Arie@yeshivahai.org so we can review and address it. This describes the intended audience and does not claim that the app verifies every reader's age.

Security and changes

The app uses HTTPS for PDF downloads and private app storage for publications and reading settings. Newly written files use iOS Data Protection. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We will update this policy when our practices materially change and show the revised effective date here. Contact Arie@yeshivahai.org with questions about this policy.
